New Delhi, January 6, 2018. Smriti Irani, India’s Minister for Information & Broadcasting, chaired the meeting of Consultative Committee of I&B Ministry to discuss about the efforts taken in organizing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017 and the steps to be taken to improve the next edition of IFFI.

Ms. Irani apprised the Members of the Committee about the various steps and initiatives taken by the Ministry in IFFI 2017. She mentioned that this time all committees were restructured. She also emphasized that for the first time IFFI officially collaborated with Toronto and Venice Film Festivals. She said that in IFFI 2017, nine (9) Master classes were organized, 197 films were screened, and 493 delegates invited.

Members of the Committee, while appreciating the efforts of the Ministry in organizing IFFI 2017, said that regional films should be given more representation in IFFI. They also appreciated the choice of films and the large participation of the film fraternity this year.
