Clark Hulings Sale Tops $2.4 Million : GlobalGiants.com

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C., June 5 -- Nationally acclaimed American painter Clark Hulings capped off an eastern U.S. tour of 38 new oil paintings with the auction of 15 lots at Morris & Whiteside Galleries, Hilton Head Island, SC on Saturday, 2 June. Auction sales totaled $1,662,080, which exceeded the high estimate total by ten percent and, when combined with the earlier set price sale of 22 paintings at J. N. Bartfield Galleries in New York City on 22 May, and La Vucciria Market, Palermo, sold by auction on 31 March, brought total sales for the artist's one-man event to $2,434,080.
Top auction lots included Las Ramblas, a 26" x 46" oil, estimated at $150,000 to $200,000, that sold for $212,800; Breton Reflections, a 24" x 40"oil, estimated at $120,000 to $150,000, that fetched $184,000; and Sicilian Cauliflower Stand, an 18" x 27" oil, estimated at $40,000 to $45,000, that hammered down at $84,000. |GlobalGiants.com|
